Motivation Sundae: How to Slay in 2018 & Achieve Your Goals

MotivationSundaeLogo_Diasehs

HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVES! It is officially 2018, and it has been requested for me to do a post about New Year’s Resolutions. I am about to give you the best advice anyone has ever given you.

Are you ready?

DO NOT SET YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE.

It is as plain and simple as that! Before you start making your list, you must know your personal limitations. Do not sit down with a friend to make your list and have a competition to see who can do the most amazing things. This is not a competition people. Think of this as a journey to a better self, because that is exactly what it should be. That is the first step.

The next step is REFLECTION. Think back on 2017, and ask yourself a few questions:

1 | What did I not accomplish this past year?

2 | Why did I not accomplish this goal/ these goals?

3 | How can I make this year better and my goals more attainable?

This gives you a good time to get organized and change some things around. Maybe some of your goals may not have been attainable because they fell under the, “too much too soon” spectrum.

A great example of this was mentioned in my January post JANUARY | GOALS, TRAVEL & CHARLIE PUTH.

The third step on your journey is to put yourself in a position to win! Want to lose weight? Make sure you have a place to workout or a gym membership. Want to save money? Make a realistic budget, write down your savings goals, and stick to them! Make a schedule or timeline for success. Get inspired! Find pictures, look on Pinterest, watch videos, grab a friend!

Do what you need to do to put your plan into action.

It takes a minimum of 21 days to form a new habit. If you start your new habits/routines now, you will be rolling by February. Give yourself that extra push and know that…YOU CAN DO THIS!

Your fourth and final step is to treat yourself! The road to achieving your goals can be very rewarding. It will only be a complete struggle if you make it one. On your journey, celebrate certain points where you feel like you are on the right track and doing well.

Example 1: Losing weight? Lose ______ pounds, and buy a new pair of Nike tights. If you’re losing weight you will definitely need new clothes.

Example 2: Saving for a trip? If you see a killer sale, buy a cute top or dress for those awesome photos that you will take.

Example 3: Working to spice up your relationship? Buy yourself a new perfume/scent. This will make you feel wonderful, and your loved one will definitely notice!

Leave a comment below, and share your New Year’s Resolutions with me! I would love to know what you will be up to this year!

Motivation Sundae: 10 Ways to Relieve Holiday Stress

MotivationSundaeLogo_Diasehs

November has definitely arrived, and it came with physical and emotional holiday baggage. It generally starts with busier work weeks and ends with last-minute holiday shopping.

Today I’m going to give you 10 surefire ways to relieve stress during the holiday season!

1 | Take a hike! I don’t mean that in a harsh way, but literally put on your favorite sneakers and get moving in the morning. Due to the fall weather changes, the weather in the morning is less humid and the atmosphere makes a great start for any busy day.

Motivation: A killer playlist! You can make your own or snag one from Apple Music or Spotify.

2 | Feeling overwhelmed? Find a nice stopping point, kick back and watch a holiday favorite! There’s nothing that helps me more when I’m stressed than getting a good laugh in! All of the Home Alone movies get me in a better mood.

Motivation: Before you start a project, plan a good stopping point. This way you have your break to look forward to!

3 | Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Get the family involved! We all have the tendency to try play superwoman during the holiday season. Having someone help you not only lessens your stress, but it also gives you a chance to bond with those you love.

Motivation: Look on Pinterest and find some cute recipes or decoration DIY’s to do with the family or something that adds a little romance for you and your significant other while still getting things done. Wine tasting while gift wrapping sounds good to me!

4 | Relax with the girls! When engulfed in things to do, you sometimes forget that you’re not the only one who is struggling. Phone some friends or your best friend for a spa date! This will give you a chance to relax and maybe even be each other’s therapist for the day. Nothing makes dishpan hands look better than a fresh manicure.

Motivation: Check out the new holiday colors from Essie and OPI. That will definitely get you in the mood to head to the nail salon!

5 | Honey I’m home! It’s time to get a good cuddle session in. Grab your boo and snuggle up! Hugging, kissing and other physical acts increase oxytocin levels. This reduces blood pressure, stress and anxiety.

Motivation: Send your love a cute/steamy text mid day to prepare them for later activities. This will also let them know that you were thinking about them, and that is a pick me up for anyone!

6 | Light a candle! This might seem so simple, but it really does work. My favorite candle has always been the Mahogany Teakwood candle by White Barn. You can find them at Bath and Body Works. The scent reminds me of cologne, and it’s so soothing! The scent instantly gets me in a good mood.

Motivation: Kill two birds with one stone! Find a scent you love and play it up in your holiday decor this season. You are now more relaxed and have a new decorative twist! Most three wick candles have beautiful containers that match any aesthetic.

7 | Warm it up! For most of us, from birth to adulthood, there is one thing that stays consistent, and that is the love of wrapping up in a blanket! Grab your favorite blanket or comforter and throw it in the dryer just long enough for it to hold and some heat. While it’s in the dryer set up your area of relaxation. Once you pull it out of the dryer, immediately wrap yourself in it. Kick back and relax! Blankets are a sense of security. The warmth will be soothing and help reduce anxiety.

8 | Spend time with your pet! Take a moment to relax with them or take them along for the ride while running a few errands. This will give you some company and get them out of the house for a bit.

Motivation: Grabbing something from Starbucks or Dutch Bros? Take your dog with you! Puppuccinos are a real thing. It’s whipped cream to us and heaven to them.

9 | Everybody clap your hands! I️ know this one may sound a bit strange, but it definitely works! Clapping your hands increases circulation and activates receptors in your hands. This fires up parts of the brain and gets that noodle going!

Motivation: If you don’t want to just stand around clapping, bring in the little ones! Grab your child, cousin, niece or nephew and teach them how to play Patty Cake or Miss Mary Mack. This will be amusing for the both of you and 9 time out of 10 will make you laugh. #winning

10 | Take a hot bath/shower! This one is a must for me and many others. Hot water will ease your mind and also soothe stiff/sore muscles. Grab your favorite bath bomb and soak your stress away.

Motivation: Drop by your local Lush location or visit Lush.com and load up on all the bath goodies! My favorite bath bombs right now are: Shoot for the Stars and Sex Bomb.

NOVEMBER | CREATIVITY, SUCCESS & BALANCE

HAPPY NOVEMBER LOVES! Let me start this post with a HUGE apology. I have truly been missing in action. Given, I could have given a warning, but I have my reasons which I will share right now…

  1. Work has been the biggest pain in my butt since my childhood vaccinations.
  2. Your girl needed time to reflect, relax and have some peace of mind.
  3. My mind was in a creative slump, and I needed time to regroup. Pinterest wasn’t helping me.

Due to all of these things, I went on a temporary hiatus from the second week in September to the second week in October. #HelloVacation

During this time, I discovered many things about myself, remembered a few things to help me get back on track and had a influx of creative ideas. I am back now, and I have a new outlook for the month of November. This month I want to embrace creativity as a whole. I don’t want to just focus on creativity within my blog, on Instagram, on Facebook, on Twitter or on YouTube. I want to expand my creativity to all platforms including my regular every day life. I’ve gotten back into doing a few projects, and I purchased some new camera equipment, so that has definitely given me a boost to get some new things done.

My work schedule has gotten back to a normal and consistent baseline as of lately. Now I have more time to physically sit down at my desk, get my life together and actually create some worthy content. I want to get back into the habit of posting at least twice a week and recording videos regularly. I’ve started doing so, but I need to be a little bit more consistent. Progress is what makes the world go around, and as long as I am progressing, I can be happy.

This month I also want to focus on success. Too often I find myself critiquing little things about my content or things at work, etc. I’ve come to the conclusion that I focus more on my failures than my successes. That is the WRONG thing to do when you are trying to get some pep in your step! There was a tip I learned a while back about making to do lists.

*Pauses to put on glasses and clear throat*

Instead of doing the traditional to do list as one long column of things that need to be done and checking them off as you go… you should make two columns/lists! The first column/list should be a to do list and the second should be a done list. Thank you Lilly Singh for making my life so much easier. This way, at the end of the day, you can see all the things that you HAVE accomplished and not just focus on the things that you HAVE NOT accomplished. All people/ideas in history that have been successful have reached that success with few or many drawbacks. No one or thing is perfect, and that is definitely something to remember.

The last focus point that I want to expand on today is balance. I love agendas, and anything that I can write down my little notes on because sometimes my phone doesn’t cut it. I am an old-fashioned pen and paper type of girl when it comes to planning out my weeks, months and year for that matter. Last year, I got a Big Happy Planner from a company called Me and My BIG Ideas, and I fell in love with it! This year I did the same thing, and it definitely helps me in the category of balance. Another part of my journey to balance is knowing when to just say NO. I’ve always been that person to get the job done, always think of other people before myself, never say never, and always be the one to find the answer.

Majority of the time these are all great characteristics to have… especially when you are in your mid 20’s and work for the government. *raises hand slowly*

However, it came to the point where I was saying so much “yes” and not enough “no” that my body started to shut down mentally and physically. I would always be tired, I would feel sick, I would always have a chip on my shoulder, and that’s just not the person that I am. I’ve gotten to the point now where if my body is telling me no and I know that I can afford to have time to myself, I will definitely take it, and it is paying off tremendously! #healthandwellness #selflove

Off Day Pamper Routine 2017

PamperRoutine_OffDay_Diasehs

I’m free! My busy work weekend is over, and I am exhausted. I’m an Event Coordinator, and I have a crazy work schedule at times so, when I can squeeze in a little self time…I AM ALL FOR IT!

For the past couple of months, I have been experimenting with a few new products and falling in love with some old favorites. This pamper day usually falls on a business day. That is huge for me! I am not disturbed as much because almost everyone I know is at work…Don’t make that face. I love you guys!

Let the pampering begin!

The first part isn’t exactly pampering at all. It’s part of my daily therapy…Coffee! I love having something hot to drink after waking up in the morning. I’m feeling in the fall spirit this morning, so I am going to enjoy some pumpkin spice creamer from Califia Farms. It’s so good! If you haven’t tried it, this is an absolute must have for any fall coffee junkie.

Pumpkin Coffee Creamer_Diasehs

To begin any magical off day, I must watch at least one episode of Sex and the City. The older the episode…the better! Everything Carrie Bradshaw makes my heart sing.

Sex and the City_Diasehs

I can’t start a pamper day without taming this crazy mess on my head! Ok, not so much a mess, but I don’t like going for a certain amount of days without washing my hair.

Can I get an amen? Thank you!

PamperRoutine_Diasehs

The Breakdown

This is the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Shampoo and matching conditioner by Shea Moisture. I purchased this set from my local Walgreens.

The conditioner has a soft honey scent. The shampoo smells much more like the oils than the conditioner does. Both products are sulfate free and for dry hair. In my opinion, this is an all around set. They also contain African Rock Fig and Baobab Oil.

Shea Moisture Honey_Diasehs

According to the product description and my own personal research…

Manuka Honey has anti-inflammatory properties, it soothes the scalp and helps create a moisturizing barrier.

Mafura Oil has high levels of hair thickening & strengthening Oleic Acid. It also helps replenish oils that are stripped from the hair during our everyday activities.

The African Rock Fig contains Vitamin C, and this aids in keeping our hair strong and vibrant. This also improves the hair’s elasticity. #winning

Baobab Oil is rich in Omegas 3, 6, 9 and vitamins that repair the hair from root to end. This oil adds extra shine to the hair and protects it from pollution & UV rays.

After shampooing my hair, I will let my conditioner sit on my hair while I slide into the next part of my routine…

TheDryBrush_Diasehs

Eco Tools Brush_Diasehs

Dry brushing is somewhat new to me. In the past I would use a regular shower brush. The all over kind that you wet, cover in body wash and use to scrub all over. The first time I used this dry brush I was so confused. It hurt! I felt like I had been slapped in the leg, chest, neck, thigh…just everywhere. This is good for overall exfoliation, and it preps my body for the next part of my pamper routine..but beware…scrubbing too hard might make you change your religion. It WILL hurt.

EcoTools_Diasehs

This dry brush is from Eco Tools! You can snag this one at your local Ulta or Ulta.com

Time for some mango love! I will shower regularly, shave, rinse my hair and all that jazz after my dry brushing session. Once my hair is pinned back up and out of the way, it’s time to use my Shea Sugar Scrub by Tree Hut. The scent is Tropical Mango, and this one is my absolute favorite!

Tree Hut Tropical Mango_Diasehs

Tiny Tip: If you add a bit of coconut oil to this body scrub, it will moisturize the skin, add a nice glow to your body and hold the scent much longer! Who doesn’t love smelling like a tropical paradise?

Depending on what I have going on with my hair at this point (natural hair or weave), I generally let it stay in the clip until after my next step.

Time for a much needed face mask! I know my skin probably hates me right now due to all the mess I have been up to the past few weeks, but….that’s why I purchased the I’m Real Cactus Mask Sheet by Tony Moly. I got this particular one from Urban Outfitters when I was in Scottsdale, AZ. No Urban Outfitters? That’s ok! You can pick them up at Ulta, Amazon or the Tony Moly website.

Tony Moly Cactus Mask-Diasehs

This mask is loaded with so much yummy goodness, including prickly pear extract. Keep in mind…I did say MASK SHEET, so expect to look a little crazier than the usual.

TonyMoly_Cactus_Diasehs

After 20 minutes, I peeled the mask off and rinsed my face with warm water, then cold water to seal in all the greatness! I always add Vitamin E cream to my face and lip balm  after doing a mask.

Voilà! Cleansed, hydrated, happy skin!

PinkBow1_Diasehs

Time to slay! At this point I will finish drying my hair and style it to my liking. I’m feeling straight hair this go around! After having curls and waves for the past few days, and I need to switch it up.

HairPamper_Diasehs

The final portion of my pamper routine is to change my polish color! This past time I chose a coral pink color, and I am completely bored with that. Today’s choice is a nude shade. I love a nice, natural color sometimes. Strangely enough, the nail polish that I chose came from Old Navy! Before this polish I did not know that they sold nail polish at all. It’s a pale blush/nude polish by Tip Toe, and it is called Ballerina.

AUGUST | Happiness, Love & Reflection

AUGUST DIASEHS

HAPPY AUGUST LOVES! Let me give you a little personal fact…I have always been the type of person to write down my goals. Whether they be personal, work related, long term or short term. There is a certain power that stands behind writing down your goals and aspirations. Writing them down is the first step to them becoming a reality and not just a wishful thought. I decided to start sharing them with you for two reasons:

  1. Sharing your goals with others is a great way to keep yourself on track. Self motivation is key, but this will also act as that little extra push. I used to keep a journal for all of my goals, but this way is a bit more effective for me.
  2. By sharing your goals you could help someone else with their own personal journey. Whether it be the process in which you go about starting your new journey or the beautiful outcome of achieving your goals…someone…somewhere…will appreciate it.

This month I will embrace happiness. Many things have changed as of recently, and I must say that my spirits have definitely been uplifted. A big part of this change has been meditation. I used to mediate quite often, but with a crazy work schedule and change in sleeping habits, that started to be a less than consistent practice. I have gone back to mediating every morning before I start getting ready. I start with a stretching session and meditate for about 5-10 minutes to follow. This time frame depends on what time I have to leave the house. This may seem like a very short period of time, but that’s truly all you need sometimes.

This month I will love deeply. Last month I focused on self love. That is now a given aspect of my daily life. I will now focus on the true selfless love that comes with being in a relationship. There is an old saying…You must first love yourself before you can truly give your love to another person. This is very true because many relationships fail due to insecurity or personal, deeply rooted issues. I am happy with myself. I love everything that I have become and have the potential to be. With that being said, I also love my girlfriend, and she deserves the world. This month will be the start of something amazing for us. See you in 11 days babe.

My last focal point of the month will be cherishing shared moments. Far too often, we as people look back in search of memories. I mean really wrecking our brains in search of a memory, and in that search we sometimes have pieces missing. I want to have vivid memories of moments shared with others. Photographs are great to look at, but the thoughts and emotions you have when looking back are most important. I have tons and tons of photographs from childhood, college, events and life’s random moments, but not many people take time to enjoy the moment they are currently in. They spend more time trying to digitally capture that moment at the time than actually live in it. This month I choose to live in the moment.

ROCKSBOX REVIEW: JUNE 2017

I cherish my relationships…I look forward to telling you my needs and wants. I enjoy knowing that you’re coming my way…Bringing me everything my heart desires. You stand at my door and ask for me by name…This is the relationship that I cherish with my mailman. I am here to say that sadly…this time…the postal service has failed me. Someone lost my box. Sooooo no package on time and no sexy mailman, but after speaking with Erin at Rocksbox, she put her glorious customer service skills to work. With her hard work & some fast shipping…I GOT MY NEW BOX!!

Do you know what that means?

It’s time for another Rocksbox review!

With this set, I was sent two items on my wish list and one that was randomly chosen. My stylist for this set was Cassie, and I love the way she thinks!

Perry Street Rocksbox

But before I get into all the glamorous details…

Rocksbox is a jewelry service that presents its members with a subscription box every month for a flat rate. The pieces are all designer brands, and come in an array of styles. If  this is your first time hearing about this company or want even more details…

Check out my first Rocksbox review!

Let us continue…

Rocksbox Stylist Note Cassie

Let me clue you in on some of my expectations for this box:

  1. I was hoping that since was my replacement box that my pieces would be SUPER BOMB! I had VERY high expectations for this box!
  2. I was in need of some vibrant colors. I mean… It is summer after all, and I had to let my inner island goddess shine through. *Snaps fingers & slings hair*
  3. I did not want anything heavy or super bunched up. That means no chokers, cuff bracelets or huge door knocker earrings. You all know what earrings I’m talking about. The ones that are super cute, but make your ears look like they are going to fall off. Not me. No ma’am! I like standing out, but baby don’t make me look like a walking Pinterest jewelry board!

After receiving my box…ALL OF MY DREAMS CAME TRUE!! I will be keeping two of the three items. Why not all three? I’ll let you know in just a bit…Keep reading.

Compare & Contrast

When looking at the pictures on the Rocksbox site versus the actual pictures…The only thing that is a bit off involves the earrings. This is nothing too major, unless you’re trying to match this exact color to an outfit. The stone in the center of the top portion is a different color. On the site it appears to be a pastel orange. This is not the case. In reality, it is more like a nude color. I wouldn’t necessarily put it in the orange family. Everything else is true to size regarding proportion and color in all three pieces.

BONUS: I HAVE A GIFT FOR YOU SO KEEP READING! IF YOU FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM & TWITTER… YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT.

When I opened the box, the first piece I pulled out was my Perry Street Elise Statement Necklace. This brand is one of my absolute favorites! They are good for having pieces with borderline iridescent crystals.  The only crystals in this necklace that are truly clear are the tiny ones at the bottom. The large teardrop stones are clear with a bit of a yellow cloud tint. It makes the necklace look very vintage! The chain has a metal has a burnish gold finish, and that in my eyes is an added bonus. The three stones at the bottom of each section of the necklace are a semi opaque white/heather grey. This necklace is so aesthetically pleasing! This piece has a lot of latch space so don’t worry about if it will be too short or not. The row of hooks tops out at a good 11 spaces.

Perry Street Elite

The Rocksbox Shine Insiders’ price for this necklace is $63 USD

Perry Street for the WIN!! *Screams like Golden State Warrior’s Fan* Two Perry Street pieces in one box? It must be my lucky day! I am in love with these earrings, and they are something I have been looking for. I needed a pair of dangling earrings that were cute enough to dress up or down, and I needed a pair of statement earrings for an upcoming event. These beautiful babies were one of my granted wishes.

I present to you the Perry Street Ombre Turquoise Statement Earrings.

Perry Street Ombre

Details, Details! If I had to compare these earrings to a movie I would be stuck between Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Interview with a Vampire. Laugh at me if you must, but I have my reasons. B.A.T. for the elegance and they scream socialite. I.W.A.V. because Brad Pitt plays an 18th century lord who is now a vampire, and these earrings SCREAM 18th century fashion! Plus they have dark parts that are so fitting.

Perry Street Ombre Detail

The Rocksbox Shine Insiders’ price for this beautiful pair of earrings is $63 USD

Not a fan of large earrings? Like necklaces even more? You’re in luck! There is a Perry Street necklace that looks like these earrings and the previous necklace had a baby.

Loren Hope…You brought a non alcoholic Tequila Sunrise to my life! This is the Sylvia Necklace in Paradise Red, and it is straight up gorgeous! Only one thing…this necklace is ORANGE not RED, but that is obvious. This necklace is a bit closer to the neckline than the previous, and has about 5 hooks of clasp space. The antique brass finish on this piece makes the stone color pop even more. I give the construction of this necklace a 10 out of 10. Reason? Each individual stone is hooked to the necklace three different ways. I have received so many compliments on this piece that it is unreal. It’s simple yet amazing at the same time. This was also one of my granted wishes!

Loren Hope Tequila Sunrise

The Rocksbox Shine Insiders’ price for this necklace is $216 USD

Loren Hope Tequila Sunrise Close

I’m sure you’re scratching your head thinking, “Why is this piece so much higher than the rest?” Because it’s Loren Hope that’s why! Also, all of the stones are hand painted.

Sex, Sushi & Body Confidence

Good Morning Beautiful,

Today is Saturday, and it’s officially the weekend. Let me fill you in on my Friday night. I invited a few friends over for a girl’s night of food, wine and binge watching Sex & the City. Typical? Yes, very much so, but let’s stay focused. We started with Season 1, and by episode 2 I was laughing at the irony. Here we were matching the scene in front of us all the way down to the messy buns and post hell week chill clothes. We were sitting around the table discussing men…and women for some of us. The plot of this episode was centered around models, beauty and, “giraffes with big breasts.” Looking around we all burst out laughing. I might be tall, but I don’t consider a 36C to be so big, so I think I’m safe. All of us are tall for women ( 5’8” to about 6’0”), and we’ve all heard the oh so famous phrase.. “You’re so tall….You should be a model.”

This is when the topic hit me…What’s more important? Size or health?

The “industry” has taken a hold on us all at some point. Myself included. Too small, too tall, fat, skinny… WHO CARES?! I am not always happy with all the newest trends, but I am happy with one that should already be a natural state of mind.

Body Confidence

Does being a size 4 make you healthy? No.

Does being a size 18 make you unhealthy? No.

All sizes are circumstantial. When I was a size 8, I was the unhealthiest I had been in my entire life. I was bouncing back and forth between Starbucks and an eating disorder. Yes, I am one of many who have struggled.

Diasehs_GoCoconuts

It took me 25 years to be comfortable with my 5’10 1/4”, size 14/16 body, and I am the happiest that I have EVER been!

Still struggling? Need a boost?

Here are a few body confidence tips, do’s and don’ts to help put some things into perspective:

1. Do: Fight the old tale. Shoot the messenger!

Have you ever had someone say something negative to you about your body, weight or size that completely ruined your mood? Have you had a thought in the changing room that made you put down the most amazing outfit? Shoot the messenger!!

Disclaimer: I’m not asking you to go out and kill anybody!

If someone tells you something negative about your body…SPEAK UP! For every negative thing you hear, speak another positive. For every reason you think you shouldn’t wear that outfit… Think of every reason why you should. Stop that negative feeling before it starts, and be your own self love publicist.

Don’t: Cuss out your doctor for giving you health advice.

2. Do: Get naked!

Spend more time in your birthday suit! Prance around the house, and sleep naked more often. You will learn more about your body, and there’s nothing better than being comfortable in your own skin. Did you know only 17% of Americans sleep completely naked? Shocker to me! Let’s add to the number shall we?

Don’t: Walk around naked if you have roommates! I would hate for you to walk out into a living room full of people. AWKWARD!!

3. Do: Spend time in the mirror

Think about this. Majority of the time when we look in the mirror it’s because we are looking for something to be wrong. Is my hair ok? Is there something in my teeth? Let me fix my lipstick…The list goes on. When is the last time you sat in the mirror to think about all the things that are right about you? No makeup, no lashes, nothing extra…Just you. Every morning or every night find something about yourself that you love. Look in the mirror and see how beautiful you are.

Don’t: Do this in a public place or while driving! We have the tendency to get caught up in our looks.

4. Smile for goodness sake!

Don’t? There isn’t one. Smile for any and every reason. The more you smile, the better you will feel!

Motivation Sundae: The List | Goals + Dreams

MotivationSundaeLogo_Diasehs

Everyone has a goal that they would like to achieve, and as a people we spend more time constructing, “The List” than actually checking things off of it.

Whether it be a New Year’s resolution or a sudden epiphany, we tend to start off with a goal or dream, and before you know it we have written the entire book on how to achieve it without even making an effort to start the journey. Trust me, we have all been there.

How many times have you kicked yourself for not achieving a goal that you set out to accomplish months ago? I want you really think about it…don’t just stare at the screen. Painless Slay: 6 Ways to Make Heels More Comfortable

Spring Heel Diasehs

Ladies, spring is in full effect, and with a new season comes some new pieces added to your wardrobe. The first thing I go shopping for is shoes! Today, I’m going to give you 6 tips and tricks to make your slay a little less painful.

Keep it Low

It’s so tempting to reach for those sky-high stilettos, but your feet will not be thanking you later. Look for a cute pair of shoes in the kitten heel to 3 inch range. Not liking that idea? Look around town for a great shoe repair shop. Most places can shorten the heel of your shoe without changing the overall style.

Disco Fever

I’m not going to ask you to pull out your big wig and body glitter, but platform height on a pair of heels is super important. High heels in the 4-5 inch range feel much more comfortable with a thicker platform. You still get that sexy height that you are looking for, and the platform helps you find a nice, even balance. Dance the night away!

Watch Your Step!

Many of us learn to walk in heels from various people or scenarios: watching a mom or sister, pageants or the most common “self-taught” strut.

Truth be told, there really is a proper way to walk in heels. Walk heel-to-toe, and be sure to keep good posture. I’m not saying you have to walk with a book on your head, but please carry yourself gracefully.

Bonus: Do you have to climb a lot of stairs in your daily life? No fear! Stair rails are your best friend. Also, be sure to use the ball of your shoe only when going up the steps. This will help prevent the missed step slip and fall.

Give Them a Test Run

How many times have you made the last minute statement, “I need to find some new shoes to wear tonight!” Yes…Yes you. Don’t feel bad because we have all done it… Only to learn that we should have grabbed that favorite pair of killer heels out of the closet. If you’re going for some high heels, never wear them straight out of the box. Break them in some! Wear them around the house and get a good feel for them.

Bonus: Breaking in some pumps? Use an old school trick! Put on a pair of thick socks, and wear your shoes inside for a while. This little space will give you a bit of added comfort for when you wear them out!

Know Your Body

Everyone’s feet are different, and even though shoes have names (I have a favorite pair of heels named Stecy)…they are not made with each specific shopper in mind. If you have a wider foot, shop for a wide fit. Most popular brands have a width option. If you have flat feet, try not to wreak havoc on your arches with anything more than three inches. You will thank me later, I promise.

Walk on Air

Gel inserts are now more shoe specific than they have ever been! If you feel pressure on the ball of your foot while walking or they slide around in your new babies, it might be time to gel it up. The inserts will add comfort to your step and add resistance so that pain will be a minimized or non-existent factor. Dr. Scholl’s has a line of inserts made specifically for heels. Need a pair? Remember, fashion is a form of personal expression. Be bold and get out of your comfort zone! Grab that animal print or bright color. Let your shoes speak for you! Leave a comment below, and let me know what your favorite spring shoe/shoe trend is for 2017.
